Help shape the future of our school.
The Falk School Director’s Discretionary Fund gives Falk’s director the financial resources to address unforeseen circumstances and take advantage of opportunities to advance Falk’s mission and values.
A perfect example of the Discretionary Fund’s powerful potential comes from the summer of 2023, when former Falk teacher Brianna Amoscato proposed a literacy clinic centered on students’ cultural identities. Beyond helping children read and write, the clinic would reflect students’ own identities back to them.
“Students seeing their own perspectives in literature is very important in terms of making students feel safe, seeing their identities mirrored, seeing themselves cultivating their own genius,” says Amoscato.
It’s the exactly the type of work Falk exists to support, and thanks to the Director’s Discretionary Fund, Falk was able to get the clinic up and running.
This Pitt Day of Giving, please consider donating to the Director’s Discretionary Fund to make initiatives like the literacy clinic possible.

Why are donations necessary?
A #PittDayofGiving donation to the Director’s Discretionary Fund will help Dr. Sarada and her team manage the missions built into Falk’s 1931 charter. From giving teachers opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of classroom practices to training tomorrow’s educators, the Discretionary Fund provides flexibility to advance Falk’s greatest interests.
