We continue to fundraise for summer undergraduate research stipends. Faculty-mentored research experiences provide students with incomparable opportunities to be pioneers and to contemplate questions for which answers are not known. Research experiences also encourage students to pull together concepts they’ve learned throughout their education and to gain confidence from persevering through intellectual challenges.
Your gift will make undergraduate research opportunities accessible to all students, including those with financial need. Your support will allow students to stay in Pittsburgh in the summer and to work full time on mentored research projects, affording meaningful focused research experiences to more students than ever before.
Thanks to donor generosity last year, five Pitt undergraduates were able to engage in summer research experiences in 2021, some of which have continued this academic year. Their research projects focused on mathematical biology, set theory, numerical analysis, and abstract algebra.
Your gift could also help us to win the Donor Challenge: If we are one of the departments with the top 4 highest donor counts, we could win: 1st place: $3,000; 2nd place: $1,000; 3rd or 4th place: $500.
