Bring Students into the Archives by Supporting

The Archival Scholar Research Awards (ASRA)

Provide undergraduate students with the opportunity to learn new skills while researching in the archives!

Each year, ten Pitt undergraduate students receive a stipend of $1,000 and access to workshops and research support provided by faculty mentors, librarians, and archivists. At the end of the program, students create websites, write papers, publish scholarly articles, curate exhibits, and share their discoveries at the Celebration of Research event.

Your gift directly supports the continuation of this unique experiential learning program for Pitt undergraduate students!

Past years' Archival Scholars say:

“Conducting my own independent research project has given me a sense of fulfillment that I would not have otherwise received from completing the requirements of the history major.”
"Being given a space to conduct personal research was the most rewarding experience of my undergraduate career. My archivist and mentor, Benjamin Rubin and Dr. Marylou Gramm, helped to encourage me...and it was all the better because I was given the opportunity to research LGBTQIA+ topics."
The ASRA program is offered in partnership with the Office of Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity.
