WHEN IS PITT DAY OF GIVING?

February 25, 2025, beginning at 12AM Eastern Standard Time and concluding at 11:59PM Eastern Standard Time on the same day.

WHAT IS PITT DAY OF GIVING?

Pitt Day of Giving (PDoG) is a 24-hour online fundraising event when alumni, students, faculty, staff, family, and friends come together globally to make gifts to the area of the university that means the most to them. It is a day when we can all come together and give back in various ways, no matter who or where we are. Last year on PDoG, more than 11,000 proud members of the Pitt Community supported scholarships, research, experiential learning, and everything that makes Pitt extraordinary. Join us again this year on Tuesday, February 25th and help us surpass last year's total by coming together to transform tomorrow.

WHAT MAKES MY CONTRIBUTION ON PITT DAY OF GIVING SPECIAL?

Pitt Day of Giving is the best day to give to Pitt, because on February 25, 2025, your support goes further than any other day of the year. Pitt Day of Giving involves bonus challenge funds that will be awarded to the schools, regional campuses, University programs, athletic teams, and student organizations that receive the highest number of donors or gifts.

I CAN ONLY MAKE A SMALL GIFT, IS THAT WORTH IT TO PITT?

It is ABSOLUTELY worth it! There is a $5 minimum gift on PDoG. Your participation directly impacts our students and the greater Pitt Community. PDoG is all about our community coming together and the power of multiple gifts to make a positive impact.

WHAT ARE LEADERBOARDS?

Leaderboards posted on the website track the fundraising progress of participating schools, colleges, regional campuses, University programs, and student organizations. Leaderboards show live updates in the day-long competition for additional funding. Those groups with the greatest number of gifts, donors, or increase in results compared to Pitt Day of Giving 2024 will earn additional funding.

WHAT ARE CHALLENGES?

Challenges, encourage support by awarding additional funds to the areas of the university that achieve predetermined goals on February 25th. They are shared on social media and tracked on the Pitt Day of Giving website, under the Challenges tab. They also spur friendly competition which engages members of the greater Pitt Community to get involved and follow the daylong progress on social media.

HOW DO I DECIDE WHERE MY GIFT GOES?

The great thing about Pitt Day of Giving is that you can designate your gift to whichever area you are passionate about, while still being a part of the larger community. Each school or program has selected specific funds that need your support the most, like departmental scholarships, to help reduce student debt and many more. Selecting your favorite fund is difficult, but you are not limited to only supporting one. You can split your donation and support multiple areas, all in one transaction. Funds will appear in your shopping cart, where you can designate the dollar amount for each one.

Making a gift

HOW DO I MAKE MY GIFT ON PITT DAY OF GIVING?

This year, the best way to make your gift is directly online with a credit card. Make your gift online on 2-25-25. If you are having difficulty making your gift online, please call 412-383-0436, and a staff member will be happy to assist you.

WILL 100% OF MY GIFT GO TO MY DESIGNATED AREA?

Yes! All gifts will be directed to the designation of your choice.

IS THERE A MINIMUM GIFT REQUIREMENT?

Yes, the minimum donation amount is $5.00. Thank you for understanding!

IS THE WEBSITE SECURE?

Yes! In addition, all payment methods on Pitt Day of Giving are secure, and all information collected will only be used by The University of Pittsburgh.

IS MY GIFT 100% TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?

Yes! All gifts made to Pitt are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. An email confirmation and acknowledgment of your gift will be sent to you after you make your donation, and this will serve as your tax receipt.

CAN I MAKE MY GIFT ANONYMOUSLY?

Absolutely! There is a check box on the online payment form titled, “Display My Name As A Donor.” Uncheck this box to make your gift anonymous.

CAN I MAKE A GIFT OF STOCK?

Yes! Stocks can be gifted in support of your favorite school or program. Please call 412-383-0436 for more information about gifts of stock and other planned giving options.

MY GIFT WAS NOT PROCESSED. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Check that your complete billing address matches your credit card billing address. If these addresses match and your donation is not being processed, please email us for further assistance at dayofgiving@pitt.edu.

I HAVEN’T RECEIVED MY GIFT CONFIRMATION EMAIL. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

After each gift is processed, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address provided, within five minutes. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please check your Spam folder. You can request a duplicate gift confirmation email if yours is not there by contacting us at dayofgiving@pitt.edu.

CAN’T FIND THE AREA YOU’D LIKE TO SUPPORT?

If you are unable to find the fund/program that you usually give to, click here to fill out our giving form. Scroll through the list of funds or select "Other" listed at the bottom. If you select “Other,” please specify the fund you are allocating your gift toward. If you need further assistance, please call 412-383-0436.

CAN I DO MORE THAN JUST GIVE?

A valuable way to participate is by spreading the word. Encourage all your friends to participate and help us reach our goal.
Take to your social media channels to share what you love or miss about Pitt and use the official PDoG hashtags: #PittDayofGiving and #PDoG25.
Visit the “Get Social” tab on the Pitt Day of Giving website. You can download fun PDoG images to your social media accounts, to inspire others to make a gift.
