Brackenridge Fellowship

The Brackenridge Fellowship provides students with two unique opportunities. Fellows conduct independent research or creative projects under the guidance of a faculty or graduate student mentor, with support for projects in any field or major—whether analytical or purely creative.

In addition to developing scholarly research skills, students learn to communicate their work effectively to a general audience. Fellows participate in a multidisciplinary cohort and attend weekly seminars led by the FHC Director of Research, where they gain critical presentation skills and engage with peers from diverse academic disciplines

The Brackenridge Fellowship was the first of its kind in the nation. Fellows are provided with financial support so that students can devote their concentration to their research and limit the need for part-time employment.

Oftentimes, past Brackenridge Fellows describe their experience as transformative and credit the experience as a launching pad for further scholarly work – both at Pitt and beyond.

Your gift to the Brackenridge Fellowship will help the Frederick Honors College continue this program and the students who are so eager to dive in and learn.

Student Testimonial:

Luciana de Jesus: "I want to thank the Frederick Honors College for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the Brackenridge Fellowship. It has been amazing to work with such a talented group of researchers, and to learn more skills on how to become better researchers through the seminars. I will be bringing these skills with me as I pursue the Bachelor in Philosophy degree and continue researching over the next academic year. I am excited to dedicate more time to researching, and am sure that my time in the Brackenridge has prepared me for the work necessary to pursue this degree. Thanks for reading!"
