Catholic Newman Club
The Catholic Newman Club
is a community built on faith and fellowship. As college students, we strive to
help one another grow in prayer, friendship, and our academics. By hosting
weekly events, this allows students to gather and get involved in our campus
ministry. We believe in helping one another deepen their faith lives and
providing access to the sacraments. Students of all denominations are always
welcome at the Newman Club because we believe that everyone needs genuine,
authentic friendships.
The money we raise from
Pitt Day of Giving helps fund our campus ministry and weekly events. Our events
are free of charge to students including events served with food. Newman Night,
our Sunday evening opportunity to grow in fellowship and knowledge of the
Church, is provided with dinner and includes a talk from a well-known Catholic
speaker. Wednesday nights at 9 pm, we have the opportunity to have mass in
Heinz Chapel. The first Friday of the month includes a cooking competition or
feast. The Newman Club hosts retreats throughout the school year to allow
students to escape the busyness of school and focus on enriching their faith.
The Newman Club strongly believes in service, as we serve many local
communities. Service projects include trips to Red Door homeless ministry in
Downtown Pittsburgh as well as the Little Sisters of the Poor nursing home on
the North side.
Donations made
through Pitt Day of Giving support college students seeking a deeper
understanding of their faith. On behalf of the whole club, we appreciate your
donation to make our campus mission possible, and so we can continue to share
the sacraments and faith to others on campus.
