The Rock Climbing Team Club at Pitt

We are the Climbing Team at Pitt, a competitive club sport at the University of Pittsburgh and an official collegiate climbing team under USA Climbing. Our goal is to introduce our community to the sport that we all love and form a team of strong, passionate climbers. This family continues to grow as more and more students have shown an interest in becoming a part of the team. Now we have over 35 rockstar climbers who are ready every semester for a successful sendy competitive season. We have had some great success in our past seasons with multiple podium finishes and qualified not just for Regionals, but also in Nationals! We were able to send 3 members to Nationals in Colorado Springs last spring. We were fortunate enough to cover registration and travel costs, but these team members had to fund their housing out-of-pocket. With your help, we hope to be able to cover all of these expenses, not only for nationals, but for all competitions and outdoor climbing trips. In this way we can work together to eliminate the financial barrier to entry of the sport we all love so much!

While we have firmly established our reputation as one of the most successful sports on campus, our budget is not equipped to support our upcoming seasons. We will spend over $10,000 in facility access, equipment, safety gear, and general operating costs. These are covered by individual team members, who are all students at the University of Pittsburgh. Chalk, climbing shoes, and harnesses are just a few pieces of equipment our team requires for strength, endurance, and technical training. Any donation that you can make will make a difference! Your support will help us pay for:

  • Competition Registration Fees
  • Transportation and Travel Costs
  • USA Climbing Membership Dues
  • Collegiate Climbing Regionals and Nationals

We have been able to make competitions free for members using allocated university funds and local fundraisers, but without your help, this will not be true for next semester. The team needs your help to continue our “send train!” We are very grateful for any donation you can make. It will help us continue climbing and hopefully bring home another Division Title and send more of our climbers to Nationals!
