Club Softball at Pitt
University
of Pittsburgh's Club Softball Team (PCS) is an entirely student-run
organization! We play softball year-round and are a part of the National Club
Softball Association (NCSA). We are a very competitive team of girls from
across the country, who have played and loved softball for most of their lives.
Our team is full of committed, diligent, hard workers who have come together to
form a close-knit family that has fun every time we are together.
Club
Softball at Pitt placed 2nd at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament in 2022,
earning a win against Virginia Tech -- who later became the 2022 National
Champions. We have also traveled to NCSA Nationals the past two seasons in
Georgia. Over the course of the fall and spring semesters, PCS both travels to
and hosts the other teams in our Mid Atlantic West Division, which include West
Virginia, Ohio State, Slippery Rock, Kent State, and OhioU. We play a three-game
series against each team once every academic year. Our team is very dedicated;
we have full practice twice a week from 10:30 pm to 12 am and three series per
semester, with all 21 players in attendance for it all.
Because
we are a club sport and are entirely student-run, we have to produce all of the
money that it takes for the team to operate. Besides player dues, all of the
money that we use to pay for our expenses comes from fundraising. In order to
host another team to play a series, we have to pay for field reservations,
umpires, field materials (we have to prepare the fields for play which includes
raking and lining them), and gas money to cover the trip to the field. When
traveling to another school to play, we have to pay for hotel stays as well as
gas to get there. We pay yearly dues to be a part of the NCSA, as well as extra
costs if/when we qualify for Regionals and/or Nationals. These would include
more hotels and gas money. We appreciate any and all donations!
