Computer Science Club
The Computer Science Club
at Pitt (CSC at Pitt) is the largest and premier technology-related student
organization at the University of Pittsburgh. Our mission is to bridge the
resource gap between public and private universities, foster a thriving
community of students passionate about computer science and technology, and
connect them to the resources and opportunities they need to achieve their
goals. CSC is the predominant platform to connect, strengthen, and represent
the Pitt CS community on campus and to the world.
We empower our hundreds of
members through educational workshops, collaborative projects, informative
talks, and large-scale community events. Open to all majors, our initiatives
help us build a welcoming and inclusive community of motivated students interested
in fields such as computer science, information science, digital design, and
much more.
Together, we work with the
School of Computing and Information, industry partners, and other clubs to
launch many exciting programs. Zero to Offer, our annual internship training
program, provides a series of talks, workshops, and one-on-one learning opportunities
during peak technical recruiting season and has helped our members land
lucrative internships at top companies across the country. Our in-house Pitt CS
wiki hosts guides and advice from knowledgeable club members that help students
navigate the Pitt CS program, the job search, and college life in general.
In 2021, we launched the
largest database of technical summer internships on the internet. Since then,
our database has seen tremendous growth in both size and influence,
single-handedly establishing Pitt and CSC as “household” names within major
tech circles online and within CS student communities at universities across
the country.
CSC officers and CSC
members have a history of collaborating with various groups within the
University to bring hackathons and other large community events such as
SteelHacks, She Innovates, and the Pitt Challenge to the Pitt community. Beyond
the University of Pittsburgh, we’ve regularly partnered with local and
international companies to host networking events that connect our members to
the wider tech industry. Our active alumni network serves as the foundation of
our mentorship and alumni outreach initiatives for our current members.
Throughout the year, we invite senior club members, alumni, and industry
experts to hold technical talks on high-demand topics ranging from advanced
Python programming and iOS app development to cloud computing and CS research.
