Dean G. Alec Stewart Student Resource Fund
Former Honors College Dean, G. Alec Stewart, was a legendary
figure in the field of Honors – one of the foremost innovators of the concept
of Honors education. He pioneered the
approach of connecting the interdisciplinarity, community and mentorship of a
liberal arts education with the breadth of opportunity and dynamism of a public
research university. Affectionately known as “Doc,” he was also one of the most
beloved and influential leaders in the history of the university, having a profound
impact on the lives of the many, many students he worked with.
In 2024, the Frederick Honors College Dean’s Office was officially
named the G. Alec Stewart Dean’s Suite, made possible through the establishment of the Dean G. Alec Stewart Student Resource Fund. This fund was made through a generous gift by
FHC Board of Visitors Chair Guy Molinari (A&S, FHC '83).
Your gift to the Dean G. Alec Stewart Student Resource Fund will help us pay
tribute to the beloved founding Dean of the Honors College, G. Alec “Doc”
Stewart, and honor his legacy by providing funding to students to partake in
life-changing experiences.
