Fencing Club at the University of Pittsburgh
The Fencing Club at the University of Pittsburgh provides
members with many fencing opportunities. As a club we are dedicated to
providing access to tournaments, travel, and gear, all of which is at no cost
to them. The support we are fortunate to receive will continue to gift meaningful
fencing experiences to our current and future members. We realize that fencing
is a sport that not everyone can afford, and it is our goal to make it more
accessible. We welcome people of all skill levels and provide them with
necessary equipment for them to succeed now and in the future. Therefore, Pitt
Day of Giving provides an excellent chance for us to make the club more
inclusive for everyone. Its support will allow us to increase our participation
in tournaments nationwide, provide professional coaching for our members and
assure their further success. All donations will be graciously appreciated, as
this allows our club to meet our goal of giving people the opportunity to fall
in love with the sport of fencing.
Ultimately we
want to provide a space for people to feel welcomed into a sport they otherwise
may not have found. Additionally, it is essential that our equipment does its
job of protecting our fencers. Since we have always provided all the equipment
needed for our members, over the years some of our masks, jackets, blades, etc.
have become worn and unusable. These funds will allow us to replace old
equipment and maintain the safety of our fencers! As fencing takes dedication,
commitment, and perseverance, we would like for this space to be of high value
to those who are trying out a new sport for the first time, whether they wish
to improve their skill level or enjoy the sport recreationally. With the
support of Pitt's Day of Giving, we are confident we will be able to cultivate
greater support for our current and new members.
