A message from the Director of Global Experiences

Donations are applied to...

Donations to Global Experiences make our programs financially accessible to students through scholarship or other direct student support.  In 2024, we utilized PDoG funds to break down the first barrier of participation:  passports!  We used the funds generously donated, received additional funding from SSOE programs, and were able to offer 12 free passports to Swanson students during our Passport Fair event in September!  Now, 6 months later, students who never considered studying abroad are either abroad on programs or preparing to depart.

Benefit to Students

One student shared their thanks for the passport funding: “This opportunity for students who have financial hardships is a grand one as the door is much more easily opened for study abroad opportunities. The ability for students to look into these great learning experiences as actual possibilities, rather than simply dream about them is much more possible thanks to you."

Thank you for helping us provide more students access to these life changing experiences!

Why are donations necessary?

This program is dedicated to increasing the participation of all Swanson school students in global experiential learning options so that they may develop as ethical leaders in a globally competitive workforce, value diversity in all forms and become fully aware of their ability to make an impact locally and globally. We seek to do this through programs that are accessible to all students:

a. Purposefully create academically challenging study abroad experiences which fulfill degree requirements, allow for multiple experiential learning opportunities (internships plus global) rather than either/or experiences, and which contribute to every student’s professional development.

b. Increase the percentage of underrepresented populations through specialized programming, advising, and mentoring.

c. Enable programs to be financially accessible through scholarships, grants, and supplemental funding.
