Hartford Partnership for Aging Education

By 2034, the U.S. Census Bureau projects the United States will – for the first time – be a nation comprised of more older adults than children. The opportunity to reimagine our society and to creatively engage older adults in the fabric of society is wonderfulThe need for skilled, creative practitioners and leaders who can work with older adults and their families is more important than everThe Hartford Partnership Program for Aging Education and the Gerontology Certificate are designed to help prepare students at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD levels for this critical area of work and research.

Students participating in the Hartford program learn from outstanding faculty and community leaders. During their fellowship, students rotate practicum assignments, working and learning in a range of settings such as hospice, residential facilities, community agencies, advocacy groups, and other settings serving older adults and/or their familiesThe School of Social Work’s partnership with Age-Friendly Greater Pittsburgh provides opportunities for students to see paradigm-shifting and community-building work in addition to work directly with older adults.

Gifts on this day will support the greatest needs in our area including, but not limited to student projects, speakers, conference and networking opportunities, and stipend support.
