Human Engineering Research Laboratories (HERL)

Challenges - we all face them. What separates individuals and organizations is how they respond. For 30 years, HERL has viewed challenges not as obstacles, but as opportunities to advance the fields of rehabilitation engineering and assistive technology. As a result, our research has positively impacted millions of individuals with cognitive and mobility disabilities to help them lead more inclusive and rewarding lives.

Our donors have helped to make HERL a state-of-the-art machining and prototyping facility with top-shelf 3D printing capabilities. Due in no small part to this support, HERL continues to meet new challenges head-on to provide individuals with disabilities the technology that allows them to lead more inclusive lives.

HERL's research portfolio is expansive, and includes wheelchair technologies, advanced prostheses, robots, and other innovative systems that improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. HERL researchers collaborate globally to ensure that the most recent advances in rehabilitation engineering and assistive technology are given the opportunity to help individuals.

Previous donations have helped HERL acquire equipment and fund necessary training of engineers who utilize the new technology. Your generosity has allowed HERL to go in directions no one could have ever foreseen.

There is no telling what challenges the future will bring. However, your donation today will help us conquer them and provide individuals with disabilities with a chance for a greater tomorrow.

Why are donations necessary?

We are a fully self-funded Center, relying on grants and donations like yours to keep our vital Research and Education programs alive!
