LGBTQIA+ Research and Outreach Endowed Fund

Endowed in 2020, the LGBTQIA+ Research and Outreach Endowed Fund is intended to support student research throughout Pitt and represent a community investment in LGBTQIA+ scholarship and outreach work.

How does the fund work?

Across the University of Pittsburgh, students have expressed an interest in conducting research and scholarship related to issues facing LGBTQIA+ communities, such as health, history, the arts and humanities, & etc. However, many of these same students have expressed barriers in being able to conduct this area of research. The LGBTQIA+ Research and Outreach Endowed Fund responds to this need by leveraging resources from generous donors to make grants available to students who do not have the resources to engage in LGBTQIA+ research. Housed within Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies Program, the endowment is used to support a wide range of LGBTQIA+ student research and scholarship.

Why are your donations necessary?

With your generosity, the fund will provide a crucial line of support for students pursuing LGBTQIA+ research across the disciplines. Additionally, in supporting this fund, we are working to advance research to gain better insight into the LGBTQIA+ community's needs and create opportunities for equity and inclusion.

How are your donations are applied to the fund?

Your gift will fund grants for undergraduate & graduate students who want to do meaningful work by conducting LGBTQIA+ related research on HIV/AIDS, trans adolescents, queer history, LGBTQIA+ social work and human rights, and other related topics.
