Phi Beta Lambda
Hello! Our organization,
Phi Beta Lambda, is a professional business organization that engages in
numerous professional development, philanthropic, social and diversity, equity,
and inclusion events throughout the academic year. As the number one Pitt Business
student organization last year, our main goal is to bring in new members and
allow them a place to further their business acumen, surround themselves with
like-minded and driven individuals, develop professionally and most
importantly, find a place within this large university that feels like home.
PBL’s mission is to create a lasting network of business leaders who share the
values of inclusivity, determination, and leadership. This is why we like to
say that PBL not only stands for Phi Beta Lambda, but also Pitt Business
Leaders, which are people that we strive to be each and every day.
We intend to use the funds
raised on Pitt Day of Giving to support our organization in our several PBL
founded professional and service events, support our members in competitions
and provide more opportunities to our members. We host of number of events over
the course of the school year that engage not only our members but also other
Pitt Business students. These events include a networking service dinner called
Dinner for Dimes where we bring in a wide range of recruiters for students to
network with and they donate to the charity March of Dimes to attend the event.
There are other costs to put on this event and to maximize the amount of money
we donate to March of Dimes; we try to fundraise as much as possible to offset
these costs. We also hold two other events that directly support March of
Dimes, the PBL 5K and The Pitt Business Pageant. With your help, we can
continue to host these service events while also allowing us to make them
bigger and better every year. Moreover, PBL hosts the Pitt Business Leadership
Conference (PBLC) which recruits local high school students in the Pittsburgh
area, and we walk them through presentations about financial health, tips and
tricks for adapting to college life, and majors and certificates in the CBA.
With funds raised on Pitt Day of Giving, we could host more high schools and
implement more presentations into the event, ultimately increasing outreach and
impacting more students.
Additionally, a
big part of our organization is our professional development, service, social
and DEI events that we provide for our members. For a lot of our professional
development and DEI events, we bring in outside speakers to offer networking
opportunities and workshops for our members. A lot of our social and service
events are backed by the funds that we raise to provide experiences to our
members through events like wiffleball tournaments and snack bag making for
families in need. With increased funds, we can expand these events to
incorporate more members, bring in more speakers and further drive home the
importance of DEI in the workplace. Each year we want to both increase and
diversify the number of events we provide to our members, and your donations
will allow us to do that. I want to thank you for considering supporting our
business organization that is such an integral part of our members’ college
experiences. As an organization, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Hail to Pitt!
