School of Social Work Fund for COSA Program
Launched in 1958, the Pitt School of Social Work is the first and longest-standing program in Community Organizing (CO) in any social work or professional school in the country. For over six decades, we have been providing transformational macro social work education and training to COSA students who are working in established and emerging professions in public, private, nonprofit, and philanthropic organizations at the local, national, and international levels.
We are preparing our graduates to work as transformational leaders and change agents, bringing to the table the organizing, relationship, partnership, and community engagement skills that are unique to macro social work. You can learn more about specific projects that COSA students have worked on here!
COSA students and graduates are building bridges and changing communities everywhere. They are working as directors, managers, organizers, advocates, planners, educators, researchers and evaluators, and public and elected officials in a diverse range of fields, including community development, labor unions, environmental organizations, youth organizing and mentorship, immigrant and refugee organizations, philanthropy, violence prevention, equity, and nonprofit management.
Your generous donations will help to sustain programs and experiential learning opportunities and fund new initiatives and fellowships for the COSA students.
Your support is not just an investment COSA. It is a tangible commitment to advancing macro social work practice and macro social workers! You can make an even greater impact when you donate today and help spread the word. An additional $500 will be unlocked for COSA when Pitt Social Work reaches 212 donors!
COSA Chair and Alum, Mary Ohmer and COSA faculty and students thank you for your support on this day and every day. Your gift truly makes an impact!
