Strong Women Strong Girls
Strong Women Strong Girls (SWSG) is a national nonprofit organization focused on empowering women, girls, and gender-diverse people through intergenerational mentoring. In the Pitt chapter, our college members mentor 3rd-5th graders throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area once per week. College members also have the opportunity to connect with professional women as their own mentors.
By participating in PDOG, we will be able to make our mentorship program possible. Donations will go towards providing supplies for weekly mentoring sessions, covering travel costs for college women to get to mentoring sites (gas, Uber, etc.), and contributing in other ways to allow in-person mentoring to occur. Donations will also go towards funding events with our mentees, such as our annual field trip and 5K. Finally, as an organization, we are always striving to find ways to learn and grow. Any funds raised may also be used to gain access to trainings and speakers who further our knowledge on topics such as trauma-informed care and diversity/inclusion. In the past, donations from PDOG have made a great impact on our organization. They allow us to provide the best experience for our mentees during weekly mentoring and our annual field trip and 5K.
