Ethics Bowl At Pitt
The Ethics Bowl Team at Pitt is a dedicated group of students driven by a shared passion for exploring the ethical nuances surrounding diverse topics and situations. We discuss everything from the ethical responsibilities of parents during their child’s sleepover to the ethical implications of capital punishment. Every week, we take time to meet and discuss topics and cases on subjects we are passionate about, and prepare for the APPE Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl® tournament.
Last semester, we were fortunate enough to compete in our first in-person competition in Indianapolis, IN. Thanks to supporters like you, we brought the Ethics Bowl team out west for an exciting and fierce competition. Beyond learning the ropes of the in-person debate and team bonding, we finished the tournament only 10 points (out of 350 total points) from making it to the National Competition! It was our very first time competing live and in the flesh, and we proved what we have to offer.
We are preparing for a season of intensive training for the 2025 Regional Tournament with a dream of making it to Nationals! We are bringing on a Pitt professor for assistance with coaching, taking advantage of summer workshops, and working our hardest to ensure our success in the Fall 2025 tournament. To make this possible for everyone that wishes to compete without placing a significant financial burden on our members, we are here to raise the funds to pay for our transportation, housing, and tournament registration fees.
Our club helps to enhance our members’ public speaking and logical reasoning skills while also fostering camaraderie, promoting a respectful competitive spirit, and making lifelong friends. A gift to our club would allow us to provide our members with more opportunities to exhibit these skills, and we would be eternally grateful. Your support would not only allow us to compete but would also contribute to the intellectual and personal growth of our members and your loved ones. Thank you for your support!
