The Department of Theatre Arts is a robust community of undergraduate theatre majors, minors, graduate students, and theatre enthusiasts pursuing diverse majors across campus. Theatre Arts students are engaged in dynamic research, academic course offerings, and theatre production.

The department fosters nationally recognized graduate and undergraduate research. Theatre Arts students have earned awards in many programs across the university and beyond. For example, Theatre Arts major Maya Jones will present her research entitled “Fashionable Ideals: Analyzing the Ideal Victorian Woman as Described by 19th Century Ladies Magazines” at the 19th annual Coast Conference (ACC) Meeting of the Minds Conference in Spring 2025.

Our graduate students engage in archival, ethnographic, and creative research that features at national and international conferences as well as in publications and productions. Their work takes them to research sites, workshops, and productions across the United States and the world, including Brazil, Iran, Chile, France, Lithuania, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Italy.

The production program produces six productions per year and runs over twenty special events throughout the school year. Theatre Arts hosts a hands-on makerspace environment that allows students to take the skills they have learned in the classroom and use that knowledge to create, problem solve and collaborate on large scale projects from conception through completion.

Donations go toward support of student research, student work in production, undergraduate scholarships, and summer research awards for graduate students. Please consider a donation to support these important student initiatives.
