Description

UPJ Log Cabin Fund

The Log Cabin, located on the beautiful 655 acres of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, has been among the most celebrated and recognized facilities enjoyed by the campus community, alumni and community members alike for nearly a half-century. A reflection of the talented student body and exceptional Mountain Cat school spirit, the Log Cabin was constructed in 1972 by the Pitt-Johnstown students, faculty and staff using telephone poles donated by a prominent area business, Penelec. Nestled among the trees and natural habitat, the Log Cabin has, for decades, been a unique venue for student programming, cultural enrichment and community engagement hosting entertainers such as Fleetwood Mac and Sting. In recent years, however, the Log Cabin has been relatively unused due to structural deficiencies original to the building that no longer meet standards specified in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Your support will help us restore the Log Cabin to its original charm and splendor while expanding its utility to include real-world, experiential learning educational functionality, and a gateway to our beautiful bike and hiking trails.
