Pitt Day of Giving Empowers Women Scientists and Engineers
Pitt’s Society of Women Engineers (PittSWE) used Pitt Day of Giving (PDoG) support to expand outreach efforts encouraging girls and women to pursue STEM careers. At the 2019 PDoG celebration, PittSWE earned $750 in challenge funds after ranking second in event check-ins, in addition to raising $800 during the campaign. These funds helped support multiple outreach initiatives, including hands-on engineering activities for elementary students, coding experiences for middle schoolers, and professional development and networking opportunities for high school students. Through events like Girl Scout engineering day and school-age workshops, PittSWE continues to address gender gaps in STEM by inspiring confidence, curiosity, and early engagement among young learners.
