Pitt Day of Giving Helps Enrich Jewish Student Life and Activities

Pitt Day of Giving helped strengthen Jewish student life at the Hillel Jewish Student Union, which has served as the center of Jewish community at Pitt for 70 years. With support from two dozen donors, Hillel JSU enhanced programming for its 2,200 members, including Shabbat meals, holiday celebrations, and social events. Students led a successful campaign using social media, personal outreach, and storytelling to highlight the organization’s inclusive and welcoming mission. By engaging alumni, friends, and community members, Pitt Day of Giving ensured these cultural and community-building experiences remain vibrant, accessible, and well resourced for students of all levels of observance.

Men’s Rugby Club at Pitt Find Success on Pitt Day of Giving

Pitt Day of Giving provides essential support for the Men’s Rugby Club at Pitt, a student organization that funds all of its expenses independently. In the most recent campaign, the club received 230 gifts from alumni, friends, family, and fans, earning the third-highest number of gifts among student organizations and $1,500 in challenge funds. These contributions help cover costs such as equipment, coaching salaries, travel, housing, and competition fees. Fundraising chair Alex Busterna credits the team’s success to strong teamwork and collective outreach. Pitt Day of Giving enables the club to focus on growth, performance, and community rather than financial constraints.
