Falk Laboratory School
Falk Laboratory School is a child-centered learning environment affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh's School of Education. Founded in 1931 and independently operated, we offer K–8 students a progressive education grounded in community, inquiry, and hands-on experiences. With specialty classes like yoga and digital citizenship, a Falk education addresses the social, emotional, and academic needs of each student.
In keeping with progressive education principles, students are at the heart of all we do and always serve as active participants in their learning journey. From the time they enter Falk as kindergarteners until they graduate from eighth grade, their curiosity is brought to life through project-based learning and authentic exploration.
Learning happens all throughout the school—on the Falk Woods hillside, in our state-of-the-art WonderLab, and in the theater, gymnasium, and classrooms. Learning even takes place in the hallways, where students gather to work in groups, and on the playground, where creativity and friendships bloom.
Our faculty are committed to lifelong learning and instill curiosity and wonder in the students they teach. They are responsive to each child’s unique interests and needs and shape future educators by mentoring student teachers. Through thoughtful research and inquiry, they are also active participants in the academic community, with the goal of improving education for all.
This year, your PDoG gifts will help us reinvent Falk’s play spaces with a renovation inspired by students’ hopes and dreams.
Thank you for your support on February 24. It means the world to us.
