School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences

Advancing health in every way possible.

At the University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS), we are driven by the possibilities of what can be achieved. Built on a legacy of academic excellence and innovation, we are fueled by passionate educators and researchers who are shaping the future of health care and rehabilitation. With 14 disciplines dedicated to advancing health and rehabilitative care, SHRS is committed to training health care professionals inspired to challenge the status quo—therapists, counselors, advocates, scientists, providers and practitioners—who will meet the needs of all individuals, regardless of background, health status or mobility.

Pitt SHRS embraces the power of bold moves—transformative actions that redefine what’s possible in health care. Bold Moves drive scientific progress and empower individuals. As we carve new paths, we understand the importance of our mission: the health care professionals we prepare today will shape the future of health care tomorrow, meeting the needs of all people, everywhere, with compassion, expertise and innovation.

To foster friendly competition within SHRS, Interim Dean, David Beck, will be donating to fund two Davy Awards which provide an extra $1,000 to two departments to further support the work they do and the resources they need:

  • $1,000 to the department that has the highest increase of donors from last year. Last year, the Department of Health Information Management raised its donor count by over 64%.
  • $1,000 to the department that achieves the highest number of unique donors. In 2025, the Department of Physical Therapy had the highest number of unique donors at 113.
